1.On March 3, 1913 women and men marched from New York City
to Washington D.C. as suffragists. Nationally and finally (some states had
already adopted various provisions), the nineteenth amendment passed, giving
women the right to vote in 1920 (one hundred years ago). During the struggle and over the years people devoted
their time and energy to making this happen. If we lived in a fair society then
this would have already been a right and those who sought change might have put
their energies into something else that could have helped us all in another
way. Perhaps a cure for some disease. Perhaps we could have had a woman
president back then.
The point: I offer a simple idea to help guide your choices when voting. Does he or she show a willingness to work for all of the people in your district/state/fed? If so, then with more people happy, productive, and easy to get along with, aren’t we all enriched? Can’t we all have more time for excellence based on helping all people?
