Odds and ends

1.On March 3, 1913 women and men marched from New York City to Washington D.C. as suffragists. Nationally and finally (some states had already adopted various provisions), the nineteenth amendment passed, giving women the right to vote in 1920 (one hundred years ago). During the struggle and over the years people devoted their time and energy to making this happen. If we lived in a fair society then this would have already been a right and those who sought change might have put their energies into something else that could have helped us all in another way. Perhaps a cure for some disease. Perhaps we could have had a woman president back then.

The point: I offer a simple idea to help guide your choices when voting. Does he or she show a willingness to work for all of the people in your district/state/fed? If so, then with more people happy, productive, and easy to get along with, aren’t we all enriched? Can’t we all have more time for excellence based on helping all people? I’m tired of the my-way-or-the highway politics whether right or left. How about our way is a smoother ride? In life, the best decisions are informed by love, which brings me to…

2. Stats vary. 48.8% of all popular fiction paperbacks are romance. 23% of all fiction (excluding children’s books are romance. Guess we’re writing our passion and the product informs a huge need. The point of life is love (as well as that for a Creator if you believe).

ABC obviously knows this need and fills it.

Their bachelor franchise is huge in ratings. The success of the show led to:

The Bachelorette

Bachelor Pad (defunct)

Bachelor in Paradise

Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise

The Bachelor Winter games

The Bachelor: Listen to your Heart

The Bachelor: Senior Edition

Romance often makes its way into other fiction as a sub plot or as a love interest. The whole world loves a lover.
